Blackout dates allow for the preventing of scheduling on one or more days outside of the standard allowed schedule. For example, if the default inspection configuration allows for scheduling from 8AM - 5PM Monday - Friday, however you will be closed on a Tuesday and do not want any inspections scheduled on this date, the blackout feature will allow for the blocking of scheduling on the date specified.

Managing Blackouts

Blackouts can be a one time event or an event that repeats (weekly, monthly, etc).

To configure blackout dates, you must have access to the administration panel.

The Inspection Management module, if enabled on your Admin Panel, will be shown on the Admin Panel home screen.

After selecting the “Inspection Management” option, choose the option to manage “Blackout Dates”

This will display the current months calendar.

Calendar Navigation

To go to a future month, click on the right pointing arrow ">" on the top left of the calendar.

Use the left pointing arrow to go back

Add Blackout

To add blackouts to the selected month, simply click on the “Add” button for the date that you would like to add a blackout for. This will display the “Add Entry” dialog.

The default name of blackouts is “Holiday Blackout”, as this is the most common reason for blacking out an inspection date. However, this blackout can be used for any type of blackout

In this dialog, you can select the event type as well as the "Date Type" (the recurrence of the event). The available Date Types are:

  • single

    • This blackout should only happen once

  • weekly

    • This blackout will occur every week on this day

  • monthly

    • This blackout will occur once per month on this day

  • yearly

    • This blackout will occur once per year on this day

Click "Save" when complete

The calendar will update to show your "Blackout"

An example of two configured weekly blackouts on Saturday and Sunday to prevent weekend inspections is shown below.

Edit Blackout

To edit or remove an existing item or series, click on the item to update or any one of the items in a series.

This will display the "Edit" dialog

Click “Delete” to remove the item or series.

If the item you are deleting is part of a recurring event, deleting any one of the items in that event will delete the entire series of that event.
